Isha Blender is a star in the reggae constellation and 2016 is her year to shine even brighter. Born on 3rd January 1987 in Clarendon, Jamaica as Isha Camala Williams, the talented vocalist began to sing at the age of ten and recorded her first track ‘Bad Boy’ around this time. From there, she continued to hone her craft under the tutelage of her father, legendary roots stalwart Everton Blender. Whilst attending Garvey Maceo High School (1998), Isha and her parents decided that she should take her music to another level and follow in her father’s footsteps. It was not long before the young songstress started to tour with Everton and the Blend Dem band in between term time on local and international platforms, where she’d open concerts for them and provide backing vocals. As part of the collective, she’s graced the stages of many popular events all over the world including Rebel Salute (Jamaica), Nevis & St. Kitt’s Festival, Bahamas and Sunrise Festival (France), Tortola Festival (BVI) and Brooklyn Festival (USA).When she’s not busy on the road then Isha is busy in the recording studio !In 2004she voiced ‘Don’t Watch My Way’ on the famous Stone Love’s ‘Tabernacle’ riddim which also features Beenie Man, Marvia Providence and Elephant Man. Further work includes ‘I’m So Confused’, ‘I’m in Love (With You Baby)’ and ‘Simple Things’. As a soloist, Isha has collaborated with a number of industry heavy weights from Willie Lindo to Black Scorpio, Big Yard and Bobby Digital. At the moment, Isha is preparing for the official launch of her debut EP Epiphany which boasts a stellar production team across seven original tracks. The project’s first single ‘Tonight’–recently released to widespread acclaim -is produced by UK stable Solid Empire Records on the aptly titled, classic ‘Queen of The Minstrel’ riddim. A red-hot collaboration with the Fireman Capleton entitled ‘Testify’ is also featured. Isha Blender draws musical influence from a number of artists including her late Godfather, the iconic Garnett Silk; Lauryn Hill, Erykah Badu, Marcia Griffiths, Beres Hammond, Dennis Brown and, of course, her Daddy! Witha penchant for Roots Reggae and Lover’s Rock, the starlet also loves R&B and Jazz; tones of which reflect in her music.
